Reog Ponorogo

 Reog Ponorogo is a traditional dance from Ponorogo, East Java, Indonesia. It is a cultural identity of Ponorogo and is well known in Indonesia and abroad. 



Description

• Reog Ponorogo is a ballet-style dance that is performed in an open arena. 

• The dance is performed by 25–40 dancers and a musician. 

• The dance features leading figures such as Singo Barong, Kelono Sewandono, Bujang Anom, Jatil, and Warok. 

• The dance is inspired by the story of a prince from Kediri who leaves to learn fighting skills in Ponorogo. 

• The dance is a celebration of the prince's mission to propose to his sister, the princess of Kediri. 

• The dance is a reflection of the values of the people of Ponorogo, such as kebersamaan, gotong royong, and pantang menyerah.
